Camp Staff

Personnel

DuBois Center hires 18 to 20 college age young people as Summer Camp Staff. This usually includes four International staff who are introduced to us through three different camp agencies. We review applications and are in phone conversation with our prospective counselors. Many questions are answered from both sides.

Our USA staff comes to us from all over Illinois and sometimes other states. We hire certified directors for all of our activities such as Aquatics, Archery, Teams Course and Equestrian - and as many counselors as needed for that particular Summer.

Training

All staff participate in our nine day staff training program. Our ACA certification requires certain policies and standards that we follow for staff training and our Summer camp program and facility. Every staff person is certified in CPR and First Aid. They learn the routine, rules and regulations, camp songs and skits and much more. All are introduced to our Curriculum for the year. This year our curriculum is "On The Way" which we have chosen through New Earth Christian Resources for the Outdoors.

Our Staff training days include everything that we will be doing in Summer camp. We also have time for fun, riding horses and participating in all our activities and getting to know each other through team building and fellowship. In fact, our Summer staff becomes a community of people who work, pray and play together to ensure that all the campers have a great experience at camp.

ACA accreditation

DuBois Center is accredited by the American Camp Association. Only 25% of all camps meet ACA standards. DuBois Center has been accredited since 1974. Our camp upholds the standards of the ACA and applies those standards in all aspects of its operations.
